Evangeliorum Gothicae fragmenta. Uppsala
Anders Uppström (1806-65) held the chair of Mesogothic and Related Languages at Uppsala University from
1859. When he made his edition of Codex argenteus in 1854, ten leaves of the codex were missing. When these
leaves were found later, he had to edit them separately, which he did in 1857.
Uppström presents the Gothic
text transliterated into Latin characters, marking the pages and the lines. The text is divided into
chapters and verses in a 'modern' way, but the Eusebian section order is also marked, as are the gold
letters, the enlarged initials, and the expanded abbreviatures and ligatures.
Uppström provides an appendix
for the parallel references in the tables under the text, and an overview of the original and the preserved
leaves of the codex.
